Art & Life with Enid Nolasco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Enid Nolasco.

Enid, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.'

On May 12, 2017, I had the opportunity to be a speaker at the local chapter of CreativeMornings, an international breakfast lecture series. After my speech, I was asked: “What’s next?” Not knowing what to say, I blurted out the first thing that popped into my head. An idea inspired by my obsession with podcasts. Something I’d been thinking about for a long time, but never thought it would ever be a tangible, real thing. I said: “I want to start a live, true storytelling show.” I wanted to create something, anything, where people could be vulnerable and dare to speak their mind. Five months to the date, on October 12, 2017, RAW Storytelling had its debut show.

Since then, my world has turned upside down in a serendipitous kind of way. RAW has become my life’s passion along with my love for branding. When I’m not being RAW, I’m committed to using my 15 years of experience in the entertainment, media, and design industry (including obtaining a Master of Fine Arts in Branding) to help entrepreneurs build brands they are proud to call their own. Oh – and all of this with some Puerto Rican flair sprinkled on top.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?

At its core, the mission behind RAW is simple: RAW Storytelling calls upon the timeless tradition of true storytelling to help humanity find acceptance, understanding, and kinship one unscripted life story at a time.

Our monthly, live, true storytelling shows are RAW Storytelling’s main platform. They occur every 2nd Thursday of the month in Fort Lauderdale and are always free admission. Each show has a story theme and 5-6 storytellers volunteer to share a true story based on the theme. I host each show and we also have a DJ who provides musical entertainment. Shows are hosted at Café Collective who provides beverages and food to audience goers. There is truly something for everyone: culture, community, networking, musical entertainment, beer, wine, coffee, pastries, and more.

Let it be through the live shows, the upcoming podcast or storytelling workshops, I wanted to create safe spaces where real people can share real stories that range from everyday anecdotes to bringing to those unspeakable life moments to the light. As I like to phrase it, from the taboo to the most common of moments.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?

What happens day to day in the world greatly affects the outcome of RAW Storytelling. When good – or not so good – events happen in the community or world, humans find solace, support, and understanding when talking about their shared experience. RAW offers that safe space where people can get off their chest what they’ve been holding on to without the fear of being judged.

As far as the role of artists changing throughout time, it’s tricky. Artists have always existed to bring the nuances of the human condition to the surface and I’m not sure if that’s a role that should ever change.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?

There’s no better way to experience RAW Storytelling than to attend a show! They are so much fun! Go to to see upcoming show dates and themes.

And, also sign up to be a storyteller! It’s not as scary as it sounds. Plus, I work 1-on-1 with storytellers to get their story to a place they are comfortable to share. More info:

If you’re not local to South Florida, I’ll be launching a monthly podcast that features the best stories of the night later this summer. The podcast will be available on all major platforms.

The goal for the next 12 months is to launch storytelling workshops where anyone can sign up to enhance their storytelling skills. The first workshop will be on brand storytelling, perfect for entrepreneurs and small business owners. I’ll be announcing more info on the first workshop at the live shows, Instagram, and Facebook.

RAW is a community-driven project and exists thanks to the generosity of people who believe in our mission. Donations are always welcome!
